Museum Huaca Rajada-Sipan expects to receive 1500 visitors in Holy

The on-site museum Huaca Rajada-Sipán, located in the district of Zaña, province of Chiclayo (Lambayeque) expects to receive some 1500 visitors during Holy Week, almost the double of visitors regarding last year.

Luis Chero Zurita, head of the cultural institution, said that tourists can observe the over 40 archeological pieces found in the excavations discovered in 2007.

He mentioned that so far this year, around 5,000 tourists have visited the museum. “In January we closed with 3 thousand people, in February we had 1500 visitors, and so far this month we had 400 visitors,” he told Andina.

Zurita highlighted that the museum has caused a positive impact in the economy of the towns of Sipan and Huaca Rajada, through commerce of craftworks and confections.

The specialist mentioned that currently they are working in a final report about the excavation season of 2008, document that will be presented to the National Institute of Culture (INC).
