PROJECT QHAPAQ ÑAN raise awareness to locals to care Inca Trail
Rodrigo Ruiz, coordinator of community participation project Qhapaq Yum reported that currently is working with 96 localities adjacent to the trail of the same name, in order to raise awareness about the protection, conservation and sustainable use. This part of the application process to try to be world heritage site by Unesco.
"With the locations you are performing work according to progressive logistics capabilities of the Ministry to look add a framework of social protection to Qhapaq Ñan" said
Ruiz explained that this approach work with the populations where the Qhapaq Ñan extends not merely to the nomination, as the road system of this project, which began ten years ago, always a community effort involved.
The reason, he said, is that just the way it has preserved Inca in Andean areas of the country, where the peasant communities continue using it as a means of interconnection between adjoining populations.
