Adventure Travel: Travel the Inca Trail by bike

There are different companies and tours for adventure. If you are not a professional cyclist, it is better to go in groups with a guide to prevent accidents and make the most out of travel.
One of the most popular routes is the Urubamba River, a distance of four days. The first day begins in Chinchero, we passed the salt mines of Maras and ends the day in Urubamba.
The next day, you start from the same valley, passing through Pisac or Paru Paru lagoon, depending on your level of experience of the participants.
The third day you can descend to the village of Andahuaylillas, but not before passing by Pomacanchis gaps, collects and Asnacocha.
Excursion to Machu Picchu
If you get to the citadel of Machu Picchu via the Inca Trail and is a great experience, make cycling is even more rewarding. Most tours provide for a three-day trip, leaving from Cusco.
The adventure begins in biker Abra Malaga (4350 m) to about 3 hours of the imperial city. From there, you go down to Santa Maria (1,280 masl), where we arrived in the afternoon.
The second day starts early, because you have to get to Santa Teresa (1811 masl), where we spend the second night.
The last day, we got to Aguas Calientes, our last stop before reaching Machu Picchu. The ascent to the citadel can be done on foot or buses available for that purpose.
The tours cost between $ 200 and $ 400, depending on the type of accommodation you choose and the length of the route.
Most tours include the rental of mountain bikes, equipped with specialized buffers depending on terrain. It also includes guides, lunch and everything you need to make this journey in top condition.
